Responding to her thanks for the gift of "Dante volumes," and thanking her again for the gift of a "Dante relic." With a copy of a letter (1944 Nov. 29) from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Dana to Elinor Gregory Metcalf of the Athenaeum providing background information on the relic, a fragment from Dante's coffin.
